Sjöbo Education Center consists of operations within Komvux, Malenagymnasiet, and the Labor Market Unit. We educate, coach, and guide towards increased independence and actually useful skills for jobs or further studies under the motto If you thrive, you succeed.

The adult education in Sjöbo is a smaller Komvux unit offering education in SFI, apprenticeship training within regional vocational education, and our training for bus drivers as well as learning centers. The apprenticeship training is based on close collaboration with workplaces in Sjöbo and nearby municipalities in southeastern Skåne with which we have primary cooperation agreements. We conduct an engaged and modern operation where we adapt our work based on the needs of our students. A total of about 10 teachers work at the unit.

We are now looking for someone who wants to become the responsible teacher for the construction subjects in our apprenticeship training.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute their professional and industry knowledge to continue driving a high-quality apprenticeship program. We currently have apprentices primarily in the vocational packages of carpentry and building painting. In the future, we are interested in broadening our offerings based on labor market needs.

You will work with adult apprentices and manage contact with workplaces, conduct workplace visits, develop educational materials, and guide, document, assess, and grade apprentices. You will be responsible for the theoretical education while the practical education mainly takes place at a workplace.

You will also participate in developing and being responsible for training in related areas such as painting, property management, or other practical directions in close collaboration with workplaces. The Swedish National Agency for Education is also investigating vocational training at a basic level to reach more people who are outside the labor market, and we view this positively. Broad professional experience is therefore an asset.

Part of the workweek can be performed from home if desired, while teaching and participation in staff meetings and team work takes place at our school in Sjöbo, whereas APL visits are also relevant in municipalities around Sjöbo with which we cooperate.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with work experience in the construction industry. Teaching certification and qualifications primarily in building construction and experience as a teacher in a construction education, preferably experience in apprenticeship training and education for adults.

We view positively experience from more directions within Construction and Civil Engineering beyond building construction.

You need to have a B driver's license for this position.
